Any Night of the Week Podcast Season 2

The Any Night of the Week podcast is back for a second season! In 2020, I was invited to create and host a podcast based on my book, for the Toronto International Festival of Authors — which was a lovely consolation for not being able to promote the book in-person. There was sufficient interest to warrant a second season, which is launching today as part of the City of Toronto’s #ShowLoveTO program.

The concept of the pod is a “virtual walking tour” and the first run of episodes took you a strolls down Queen West, up Yonge Streer and through Yorkville, the Annex and Kensington Market - visiting sites of live music activity over the decades. While most of that content reflected what was in the book, and stuck to the traditional downtown neighbourhoods where you’d expect to find music venues, the new episodes take you “beyond the core.” There’s lots of new material that isn’t inside the book, and involves a more present-day look at the city and our music scene. S2E1 is streaming now, and covers The East End, with stops at the Opera House, the Danforth Music Hall, the Only Cafe, and Hirut Cafe, as well as dear departed haunts like the Blue Moon Pub, the Roxy Theatre, and Spectrum Nightclub. Pop in those buds, load up that Presto card, and go out for a walk!

Can’t find the episodes? Search “Any Night of the Week” wherever you find your podcasts. If you listen on Apple Podcasts, please consider giving the show a rating.

Thanks to co-presenting partners Coach House Books and Wavelength, and to my very patient co-producer and musical director, Al Mousseau.
